Autumn Weather in Hurghada — September to November Complete Guide

Autumn in Hurghada is the start of the most popular holiday period — October in particular is widely considered the best single month to visit. Here is what September, October and November are actually like.

September — End of Summer

September marks the transition from summer to autumn: temperatures drop from 38°C to 35°C, the sea stays very warm (28°C), and hotel prices are still at summer low-season rates. This combination — excellent warm weather AND low season pricing — makes September one of Hurghada's best value months. Occupancy begins picking up from mid-September as European visitors return.

October — The Golden Month

October is widely considered Hurghada's single best all-round month: 31°C daytime, 22°C nights, sea 27°C, 10 hours sunshine. Temperatures are warm but not extreme, all activities are at their best simultaneously, the sea is still very warm from summer, and the autumn light creates extraordinary photography conditions. UK October half term is the busiest week of the month — book well in advance.

November — Quiet Peak

November offers October-quality weather with fewer crowds: 27°C daytime, 19°C nights, sea 25°C. The European visitor peak has not yet fully arrived. Prices are slightly below October peak. Diving visibility is excellent. The El Gouna Film Festival takes place in late October/November, adding cultural interest to the month.

Autumn Sea Conditions

September and October have particularly good diving conditions: summer plankton blooms clear, restoring winter-quality visibility while the water remains warm from summer. This combination (warm water AND excellent visibility) makes September–October excellent for underwater photography and liveaboard trips.
